Efforts to save the Bowen take a step in the right direction

So we got the news last night that the village of Bartonville has finally agreed to use their TIF funds to help with the abatement of the Bowen building. We would like to congratulate Richard Weiss and his volunteers in this first big step forward. There is still a lot of work to be done and they can't do it alone. To see what you can do to help with this big project visit http://www.peoria-asylum.com/ .

What is Pareidolia?

Have you ever seen a faceor apparition in a photograph? Is it a ghost in the woods? A face in a window? How about a ghostly figure in a cemetery?

99.9999999% of the time this is called PAREIDOLIA. It is not paranormal. The human mind is programmed to find faces, and sometimes human figures, in an abstract scene such as a picture of a cemetery, woods, windows, and more to make the brain process what it is seeing
in such pictures. If you saw a bunny in the clouds would you truly insist it is a real bunny? No. That's how the brain plays tricks on you. But clouds are much more explainable than a photo with a good story.

Before jumping in and saying WOW look at that ghost; stop and think first. People will try their hardest to get you to believe anything. We find that even many paranormal groups out there also over analyze their photos. Then they manipulate the photo more and more in a photo program trying to make sense of nothing. If you have to work that hard to find the ghost in your photo then it’s not real. Let it go and move on for more definitive proof!

Here is a Wikipedia definition of Pareidolia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareidolia

Theory on being "touched"

I was recently asked the question, "I wonder why when some people get touched by a spirit, sometimes it is associated with an ice cold feeling and other times not?". Of course nobody knows the answer to this for sure, but my theory is that there are two different types of touching. The first type is that the spirit is actually present right next to you and touching you, which creates an ice cold feeling since it is drawing energy (heat) from the atmosphere in order to sustain itself. The other type would be just the sensation of being touched (without the coldness) due to your brain being subjected to high levels of EMF, which could be either man-made or spirit induced. High levels of EMF can make you feel like you're being touched by essentially "shortcircuiting" or interfering with our brainwaves due to the high levels of EMF present. If spirit induced, this would likely be from a portal (some people call them wormholes) opening up that allows the spirit world (another dimension) that consists of pure energy to manipulate things in our world (dimension). I think portals (wormholes) can only exist for short periods of time but when they are open, it creates a tunnel between the two dimensions where we can interact with each other for short periods of time. I'd like to know your thoughts and/or theories on this if you have one. I always enjoy hearing other people's perspectives and ideas on this subject.

EVP's and recorders

It's always intrigued me how an EVP can be picked up on a recorder but yet usually nobody will hear it with their own ears at the time it was recorded. Numerous theories exist as to the origin of an EVP, but none have been proven yet. Perhaps one of these days as the field of paranormal research grows, we will one day understand.
What we do know is that sound is energy. Energy in the fact that the air is vibrating to make a noise. The number of times the air vibrates a second is called a sound wave. The number of times a sound wave vibrates is called its frequency. Frequency is measured in hertz. The lower the hertz, the softer the sound. Since EVP's are very soft, they are always considered for the most part to originate around the lower hertz range - around 20Hz or lower. 20Hz is about the lowest frequency that the human ear can hear. I think that humans are close to being able to hear these EVP's but they just fall out of the range of our hearing. With recorders and the sensitive electronic circuitry in them, these devices are more sensitive to change in the air and this allows us to "hear" an EVP through it when we play it back.
Are EVP's the voices of the deceased? Or perhaps just residual "voices of the past" that seem stuck in our time? Who knows. That is another subject all on its own to be blogged about in a future post.
